MySpace 2.0ize Beta 2: Drag and Drop

written May 2nd, 2006 @ 11:20pm | kinda like: News, Technology, Projects, Myspace 2.0ize

Soon after releasing MySpace 2.0ize, I realized it wasn’t anything that special. It was ultimately a set layout with some design options. With Beta 2 I hope to change that. Profiles should be completely customizable and each design unique. Not only will Beta 2 feature a drag and drop widget system, but it will also feature resizing. With resizing, a user can make their widget different from anyone elses. Each widget will feature the ability to decide background color (or image), and the content in the widget. Later releases of beta 2, will most likely also feature z-index options for overlaying layers.

Also new to beta 2 will be the save option. It will allow users to save there data to an xml file and download it to their computer, so when they come back they can easily upload the profile they previously had.

The bulk of the coding will be done with AJAX and PHP. I chose these languages because they are dynamic, and with AJAX asynchronous (no page changes).

If you like the idea or would like to help in the development of Beta 2.0, contact me at Zipp425@gmail.com or leave me a comment

MySpace 2.0ize Beta 2 concept

Added: This is a simplified explaination, by diamondandy of what this is

basically he is making a system where you drag and drop stuff onto a work area.. and it will auto generate the code… hence the drag and drop thing.. it was an idea i gave to him a while ago if he wanted something lil bit special for the myspace customisation field… i think it’s gonna be for div overlays.. it will make each div overlay totally unique as you could position the div sections wherever you wanted them too be
