MySpace 2.0ize: Drag n Drop Beta 1 Coming Soon

written Sep 15th, 2006 @ 4:01pm | kinda like: News, Technology, Projects, Myspace 2.0ize

Well, it seems like Myspace 2.0ize Alpha was a flop. I’m really hoping that improved performance and cross browser avalibilty will sweeten the deal and more people will be interested in using it.

Improvements:

  • Much more stable, alpha was very very prone to errors.
  • Relys more on PHP than javascript. Alpha was pretty much just a jumble of javascript.
  • Looks a lot better, the design has be improved a lot in my opinion, overall it all seems a lot cleaner and effective.
  • Flexibility, Beta is built more flexibly, and so I can see in the near future, the ability to actually add more than one of each widget.
  • Load time. Beta loads about 100 times faster.
  • Changes are made as soon as you finish typing the information into the box (its cool!)
  • Cross Browser compatibility. Better experience on Firefox, but it works fine in IE.

Remaining work before Beta release:

  • Myspace Code Generator
  • Load User Box, including the ability to use an actual username and not have to memorize a number
  • Templates, 2-3 basic templates to use as building blocks. Loaded with the click of a screenshot.
  • leave a comment/suggestion/error report form.

Overall, things are going very well. This has been a long process, but its nice to finally see something that looks decent.
